THIS IS OUR RESEARCH GROUP

Our mission is to investigate the neuropharmacology of analgesic drugs that induce addictive behaviours, mainly opiates and cannabinoids.

Our vision:
- To unreveal the pharmacological neuroadaptive events triggered by chronic opiates and cannabinoids (drug abuse, dependence, tolerance, etc.).
- To know the pathophysiology and underlying mechanisms for induction and expression of several key actions of opiates and cannabinoids: motivation, pleasure, rewarding and related side effects .
- To pursue novel pharmacological targets to improve the analgesic efficacy and tolerability of opiates and cannabinoids.

Members of the group:
- Dr. Joseba Pineda (Head of the group, associate professor)
- Dr. Aitziber Mendiguren (assistant professor)
- Iranzu Mugueta (part-time professor)
